The Project MAX Standards-Aligned Unit Planning Process provides a structured format for the development of a standards-aligned unit of instruction with consideration of students with complex instructional needs. This four step process includes:
1. Consideration of grade level academic standards,
2. Identification of prioritized learning targets and vocabulary,
3. Consideration of the instructional process (practices, materials, resources and tools, assessment), barriers to access, accommodations and modifications and,
4. Individualized student planning
