Children with Cochlear Implants

Participants will learn about candidacy for cochlear implantation and the different listening and spoken language outcomes. Educational and habilitation implications will be discussed including the role of the teacher of the deaf, speech-language pathologist and audiologist in the educational setting. Habilitation will include an outline of the auditory, speech and language goals that should be addressed. Along with this, how a cochlear implant works and trends in the field such as bilateral implants and the impact on schools will also be discussed.
